HISTORICAL DOWNTOWN WALKING TOURS:
Each year we are happy to greet visitors to Poulsbo with walking tours of historic downtown Poulsbo. We have become an annual tour stop for chartered tour groups from as far away as California.
In the past we have hosted a Rotary Group Study Exchange from Norway who visited Poulsbo on the first stop of their tour of Western Washington and British Columbia. The group consisted of young professional women and a group leader. Poulsbo provided them with a comfortable transition between Norway and North America. The group enjoyed a Poulsbo Walking Tour during their stay.
PHS hosted a group of about 45 members of the Kitsap County Historical Society’s "Eat Your Way Through Kitsap" program. After lunch at Mor-Mor Bistro, the group and PHS tour guides Gordon Stenman, Hildur Gleason, Arlene Watland-Fureby and Judy Driscoll, walked through downtown Poulsbo. Afterwards, Gordon hosted the group at the Martinson Cabin. Everyone was enthusiastic and complimentary about the tour and cabin events.
With the opening of our new Heritage Museum, we have an added venue for historic tours. The same kinds of history’s mysteries hands-on events we host at the Martinson Cabin are now available by appointment at the new Heritage Museum.
We have hosted groups from Norway who are interested in walking in the footsteps of their immigrant ancestors. You don’t have to be from far away to enjoy the benefits of any of our tours. We are happy to schedule family and school reunions, (as small as four people!), school field trips and civic organizations for walking tours or history’s mysteries events at the Martinson Cabin or Downtown Heritage Museum. You’re never too old to learn about our community.

HISTORICAL MARTINSON CABIN TOURS:
The Martinson Cabin museum officially
opened to the public on October 29, 2006. This culminated years of patience by
the Martinson family, perseverance by Bill Austin and the Bight of Poulsbo
group, donations by many civic-minded businesses and individuals, countless
hours of volunteer time, cooperation of the City of Poulsbo and the Poulsbo
Historical Society's determination to make this historic jewel available to the
public.
